ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Academics

  • Final grades of A and B on the 7th grade report card in the major subjects (Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies). Students who have earned a final grade of C in one of the above subjects will also be considered.
  • Scores of Proficient and/or Advanced on the 7th grade Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) tests in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Behavior

  • Behavior ratings of 1 and 2 each of the four reporting periods on the 7th grade report card, as well as the first reporting period on their 8th grade report card.
  • No documented Level II SDP Code of Conduct violations or out­of­school suspensions during the preceding two academic years.

Attendance

  • No unexcused absences; no more than five excused absences and ten tardies.

Other Requirements

  • Submission of required writing sample.
  • Positive letters of recommendation from a 7th/8th grade major subject teacher and the principal of the elementary/middle school you currently attend.
  • Favorable interview with the Parkway West Admission Committee, which is a mandatory component in the process and by invitation only.

Graduation and Promotion Requirements

In order to meet graduation requirements, students must do the following:
∙  Earn 23.5 credits
∙  Complete a Multidisciplinary/Service Learning project.
∙  Complete 120 hours of community service and earn 1.0 for “institutional” credit

Students who are unable to complete the institutional credit due to extenuating circumstances may be given a waiver and will graduate with completion of highlighted 23.5 credits and multidisciplinary/service learning project.
